Fun Weekend

This past weekend we did a couple of things we've been meaning to do for a long time. We went to Madison for the farmer's market where we met some friends of mine from Courage to Teach. Then we headed out to Governor Dodge State park where we met up with the Blackritz family. We've been wanting to go camping for the longest, and this was a perfect easy opportunity. We even got 20 min. or so around the camp fire before the storm rolled in. We all three slept in our little tent together listening to the rain.
The next day we took a beautiful hike to a waterfall. Lucy got to dip her feet in the water below. She is also got to swing with her friend Harper, and frolic in the grass.

Lucy Likes Water Too! (Joke title for Erin)

Summer Dreams

This is my favorite summer picture so far because it includes three of my favorite things: Lucy, cool baby carrier, and the farmer's market. That is where we were when the picture was taken.

The title of this post comes from something I said to Charles the other night when we were on our way to "Chill on the Hill" the super fun outdoor free music concert at the park at the end of our street. I said, "My dream is coming true!" I spent many dreamy moments during the tedious, seemingly neverending winter doing exactly what I have been doing in reality these past few weeks.

Lucy and I are LOVING the summer so far. The week following our crazy trip to California, we only left the house for walks (no car rides). Lucy got back on her sleep schedule and we both relaxed. We had a super fun and relaxing Fourth of July weekend, complete with a parade and a couple of cook outs. This week we started swimming lessons! Our days are spent playing outside, taking walks to the lake, meeting new neighbors (or meeting neighbors for the first time), taking naps (while I get tons of housework and otherwise done), cooking, and admiring our beautiful gardens with daddy at the end of the day.

Ahhhhhhh summer!!

Oh, and some of you may recognize this photo from my new obsession during nap time -- Facebook! Need to break that bad habit fast!

A New Friend

Lucy and I were in California last week to visit some dear old friends, Kate and Tori, and a new friend, their daughter Zadie. It was a week of firsts. Lucy's first ride on an airplane. She did great, of course, despite the fact that we had to sit between two men who would not trade with me for an aisle seat on the way out. They got to see a lot of breast feeding and got kicked in the you know whats by Lucy long legs for that one.

We also got to see and touch the ocean for the first time (stay tuned for a more detailed report). We rode the train for the first time for hours long adventures to Thai town and Hollywood where we also attended our first huge outdoor concert at the Hollywood Bowl. We shopped at Venice Beach, Rode down Rodeo (do you spell it like that?) drive and saw all the big houses in Beverly Hills.

The best parts, though, were just hanging out with Kate, Tori and Zadie. Thanks for the great little vacation ladies!
